A rare pair of early French candlesticks, most likely from Normandy having pan topped sconces with heavily gadrooned bases over inverted baluster stems which are also heavily ribbed,all on large gadrooned and domed feet.

Height 7 1/8th ins 18.1 cm

Similar examples can be seen in "Verre D'Usage Et De Prestige " by Bellanger.

A very similar pair can be seen in Bonhams sale 2nd may 2018 lot 9 were they were given a late 17th c date ? , possibly due to the heavy crizzeling and fetched the princely sum of £6,250.

Although the pan tops are a slightly different shape both are entirely as made and in perfect original condition, a very fine and rare pair of candlesticks.
