Commemorative Queen Anne "Coin" Tankard

Commemorative Queen Anne "Coin" Tankard

C 1802/14

Item Ref: 601

An large early 19th century commemorative tankard of baluster form with tooled rings to the rim and bottom section of the body, with an applied strap handle, below the bowl is a hollow blown knop containing a silver Queen Anne sixpence, all on a stepped foot.

Height 6 7/16th ins 16.5 cm

Unfortunately it is not possible to see the date of the coin as this is obscured by the rough pontil mark , Anne's short reign as queen was from 1702 until 1714 and therefor I suspect that this superb tankard was produced at some point a hundred years or so later , the form would suggest that it is more than likely at the later end of the date range of 1802/14,

A very fine and large tankard containing a rare coin, in perfect original condition.
