Commemorative Queen Anne "Coin" Tankard

Commemorative Queen Anne "Coin" Tankard

C 1802/14

Item Ref: 601

A large early 19th century commemorative tankard of baluster form with tooled rings to the rim and bottom section of the body, with an applied strap handle, below the bowl is a hollow blown knop containing a silver Queen Anne sixpence, all on a stepped foot.

Height 6 7/16th ins 16.5 cm

Unfortunately it is not possible to see the date of the coin as this is obscured by the rough pontil mark , Anne's short reign as queen was from 1702 until 1714 and therefor I suspect that this superb tankard was produced at some point a hundred years or so later , the form would suggest that it is more than likely at the later end of the date range of 1802/14,

A very fine and large tankard containing a rare coin, in perfect original condition.
