Early Baluster Wine/Small Goblet

Early Baluster Wine/Small Goblet

C 1690/1700

Item Ref: 563

An early Baluster wine or small goblet, having a round funnel bowl with solid base and half knop below, over a teared inverted baluster knop, all on a folded conical foot.

An interesting and early glass that obviously had a difficult birth , the bowl is distinctly out of the round and uneven, I suspect it would have been produced by a lesser glass house and maybe for tavern use , the metal also has many bubbles , all of this though has not prevented it being kept and used for 300 or so years. it displays very well and of course is fit for purpose if like I do you have a liking to use these early glasses.
