A superbly engraved beer tankard with a Bacchanalian scene around the entire body including a pair who are obviously suffering the excesses of the event.

As with most high quality continental engravings the deeply cut and polished details are superb and very detailed. Tankards of this type are often found with attached lids - this was a process carried out in the metal working shops and not all had lids applied. There is no evidence to show in this case that a lid was ever fitted.
