Very Rare English 17th Century Wine Glass

C 1685/95

Item Ref: 705

A very rare wine glass have a wide straight sided bowl with Nipt Diamond Waies to the lower third, over an incised twist stem, all on a folded conical foot .

Height 5 ins 12.7 cm

This superb example of early English lead glass appears to be un documented in the literature , however parallels for the stem form can be seen in,

W A Thorpe , A History of English and Irish Glass, plates XX11 and XX111

also in Dwight P Lanmon, FSA , The Golden Age of English Glass, pages 76, 77, 78 and 79.

A wonderful early glass that would be a very special addition to any glass collection , in perfect original condition.

The 2 sweetmeats in my photo are for illustration of similar stems and not for sale .
